Thank you all so much
What a Walk it has been…! It has been a special year, it being the 15th edition, because we have entered into a partnership with Think Pink Europe, because of the many wonderful charity events organised by sponsors and collaborators. Truly a great year. And as we wish to improve each year, and get new ideas into the concept, and yes, it gets harder to organise every year. We are far from perfect and have made mistakes no doubt, but our motive is still the same as when it all started 15 years ago: full support to those who suffer or have suffered breast cancer and their families.
The objective and obligation of the Foundation Walk for Life is to raise funds and use them to help and improve quality of life for as many people as possible – which is what we are achieving step by step together with the help of the society.
We had over 4000 walkers last Sunday 15th December and we raised 36,643,77€, as stated in the notary act carried out by Nicolas Castilla , Arona Notary. And that was not only from individual walkers but also €1364 raised by Armada Sur, and sponsor group donation like the Los Swallows Los Cristianos with over €400, Sundowners Bar over €800, Maureen Burke over 600€, Carol Taylor, Mrs Wright, Brenda Melville etc etc . So much support for which we are immensely grateful to EVERYBODY.
Thank you to the many wonderful volunteers as without them nothing would be possible. The great performers Paul the Piper, DJ Rafa, Diego Felicio, the flashmob dancers Virginia, Edu and Emilio, and the brilliant band Los Banditos. The sound staff Sonmaster y Soundblack, the Batucadas drum bands. Notary Nicolas Castilla, speakers Clio & Angel, helpers from Fact, the fabulous face painters, and everybody else whom we might have forgotten.
Thanks to all who made and created the calendar for Life “Art for LIFE” this year, as part of the monies raised came also from the charity calendar sales.
The funds raised will go to cancer research projects related to liquid biopsy, BRAC genetic investigation, as well as activities at the Pink Room for patients and their families. We will also continue our BRA Project, and launch a new one called Linfa project to help patients with lymphedema problems. We will also fund a handmade swimwear collection for mastectomy patients.
Thank you to all participants and those who made it all possible, from the bottom of our hearts. If we have forgotten to thank someone, please forgive us too. But I can assure you all is done from our hearts.
