The road is the goal
The Carrera por la Vida Foundation organizes the event “Camino de Santiago por la Vida” from September 23 to 30. This event, which is being held for the first time, seeks to create a space of support and awareness for people and families affected by breast cancer.
The Foundation registered in the Canary Islands and in operation since 2005, has been a reference in the fight against breast cancer on the island of Tenerife. This new pilot project has 30 participants, which include those affected by breast cancer and their allies or companions.
The emphasis is on the journey rather than the destination, highlighting that participating is already a significant achievement for those who have faced cancer. It is not a competition but a space to share experiences, promote coexistence, and raise awareness about the early detection of cancer.
In addition to promoting healthy habits, such as Nordic walking, the Foundation has also collaborated with Viajes Guiatur to design an adapted route of more than 120 km from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. All this with the support of the Adeje City Council and other collaborators.
During the event, the experiences of the participants will be recorded to create a documentary that highlights the stories of improvement and life. The project seeks to be a meeting point for those facing breast cancer, demonstrating that “the path is the goal.”
