Walk for Life 2017 resulted in yet another success in every way
The Paralympic medalist Gema Hassen-Bey will act as Godmother at the 2017 Walk for Life Edition. Gema Hassen-Bey who is the first Paralympic athlete in a wheelchair who managed to get up to Mount Teide, using nothing but her arms, and she will be the Godmother of the 13th Edition of Walk for Life. Walk for Life is an anual charity event where Adeje and Arona join forces to prepare a charity walk to support those fighting breast cancer and their families.
Gema is national champion in swordplay and at the latest edition of the Para Olympics she became medalist in this sport. She already had 12 olympic titles before and has been a member of the Paralympic Committee for 10 years.
Nearly 5000 people walking between Adeje and Arona in support of those fighting cancer and their families. And it was certified under supervision of Notary Sr. Nicolas Castilla that the incredible amount raised that day was 18.000€. These donations have been distributed the following way: 3000€ handed over to KM Solidario AECC (cancer bus) as was the same amount of 3000€ given to AMATE. The amount of 4000€ was handed over to a research project on Liquid Biopsy at the cancer research center VHIO in Barcelona, who join worldwide research on this important issue. The rest will be used for the foundation’s BRA Project.
