Sports and social action: an agreement to improve quality of life

The government of the Canary Islands and Carrera por la Vida Foundation Join Forces to Promote Sports and the Fight Against Breast Cancer

The Minister of Education and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Poli Suárez, and the president of the Walk for Life Foundation, Brigitte Gypen, have signed a collaboration agreement to support the sports activities carried out by the Foundation.

In its almost 20 years of history, the Foundation has made sport and physical activity one of the fundamental pillars to improve the quality of life of people with breast cancer and as a way to donate funds for its projects.

In this agreement, the counselor recognized the work of the Foundation to unite sport and social action through activities such as the Walk for Life, Swimming, Pedaling, Nordic Walking or the Camino de Santiago for Life.

Within the framework of this agreement, the Government of the Canary Islands and the Foundation highlighted the Dakar for Life, led by  Rafael Lesmes, who after his victory in 2023 with the big pink truck, will once again participate in the big Race and raise awareness about the importance of early detection and the existence of male breast cancer.
