It was in 2005 when the first solidarity walk in support of breast cancer patients was organised in Tenerife Island, Spain.
That initiative led to the creation of the foundation itself and the “Walk for Life” event, which continues to be held every year in December.
Since its first edition, the “Walk for Life” has experienced an increase in its social impact and the number of participants, currently being a reference charity event in the Canary Islands. Surpassing the five thousand participants, the “Walk for Life” event is a public display of support from different institutions, associations and companies towards people affected by breast cancer. It also provides funding and donations for the maintenance of the healthcare projects and research studies that Walk for Life Foundation collaborates with.
The “Walk for Life” on-site event was interrupted during the COVID19 pandemic; that was the reason we opted in 2020 and 2021 for the online format in partnership with the “Race for the Cure”. This virtual event is promoted by the Think Pink Europe network, which chose the Walk for Life Foundation as its Spanish partner organisation that comprises 32 European countries which work together to improve medical care for people with breast cancer.
